The Pittsburgh Penguins Online Hockey Card Collection -  Jaromir Jagr Tribute

Jaromir Jagr Tribute Title Card

On Wednesday 11 July 2001, the end of an era occurred. Unsettled superstar Jaromir Jagr was, after months of speculation, traded by the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was sent to the Washington Capitals with defenceman Frantisek Kucera in exchange for centres Kris Beech and Michal Sivak, defenceman Ross Lupaschuk and future considerations - rumoured to be $5M over the next two years. The trade caught many Pens fans by surprise as they were expecting NHL players in return for their superstar winger but GM Craig Patrick brought in 3 (admittedly hot) prospects instead.  The question of whether the return Patrick got for the superstar from Kladno was acceptable probably won’t be answered for some time and depends on how the three prospects involved develop and whether that development is within the Penguins organisation.

The trade ended Jagr’s 11 season Penguins career during which he had won two Stanley Cups, numerous individual awards, an Olympic gold medal and along the way the hearts of the Penguins fans!

This section pays tribute to Jagr’s career with the Penguins - in true In The Crease style!  First off, is a set of specially created hockey cards showing Jagr throughout his Penguins career, one for each year!  The back of each card (click on BACK under each one to view this) shows his stats for that year and any awards he may have received.   There are also a couple of wallpapers using the image from the title card of the tribute included as well.  There are more  Jagr cards and wallpapers in the Pens Cards and Pens Images sections of the site - see links above.

The Pens (and their fans) and Jagr may not have parted on the best of terms but nobody (Pens fan or otherwise) should forget what the Czech with the wild hair achieved in his time with the Pens and what an unbelievably talented player he is - I for one will still wear my Jagr Pens 3rd jersey with pride!
